COVID SAFETY MEASURES – HWI

  • Teams will be subject to a new “Code of Conduct” that includes COVID responsibilities
  • We are required to track attendance at practices and games
  • Mask are MANDATORY to enter and exit arenas (as well as getting to playing surface)
  • Washing or disinfecting hands upon arrival
  • Players will come to sessions dressed with the exception of skates, gloves and helmets.
  • Players and coaches will arrive 15 minutes prior to ice time – (NO LOITERING BEFORE OR AFTER SESSIONS)
  • Use of dressing rooms will be reduced or eliminated
  • Players must bring their own water bottle
  • Upon each arrival please see the designated COVID volunteer(s) for your team. Once teams are set you will be provided their names.
  • At that time, you will be asked 4 questions pertaining to COVID and sign attendance sheet
    1. Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms?
      1. Fever or Chills
      2. New or worsening cough
      3. Sudden loss of smell without nasal congestion, with or without loss of taste
      4. Sore Throat
      5. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
      6. Gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting)
    2. Are you experiencing two (or more) of the following symptoms?
      1. Runny nose
      2. Muscle or body aches
      3. Fatigue or weakness
      4. Conjunctivitis
      5. Headaches
      6. Major loss of appetite, nausea
    3. Within the last 14 days, have you travelled or have had contact with a person who has travelled to any country outside Canada?
    4. Within the last 14 days, have you provided care or have had contact with a person who is known or suspected to have covid-19?
  • Arena Staff will need longer delays between ice sessions in order to sanitize surfaces.
  • Players will be required to social distance on benches
  • Coaching staff will be greatly reduced (no assistants)
  • Coaches and referees will be required to use electric whistles
  • There may be random temperature checks
  • One parent per player is permitted at the event (mandatory parent at each event for child under 12 years old).
  • Each team will be provided with a COVID Kit
  • Should symptoms arise at an event your child be put in an isolation area and you will be contacted immediately. 

*** Please note that once teams have been selected the coaches, manager and COVID responsible will be advised of all protocols and be responsible for relaying all pertinent information to parents and players.

**HWI has put in place a volunteer task-force in charge of COVID compliance to ensure everyone’s safety, required by the minister of health and Hockey Quebec.

** All protocols have been implemented in coordination with our partner cities, Dorval & Pointe-Claire, and their newly implemented Covid arena protocols.
